Manual Handling

COURSE OVERVIEW

As defined under the Health and Safety Executive, manual handling means transporting or supporting a load by hand or bodily force. It includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving loads. A load can be an object, person or animal and the law sets out how employers must deal with risks from manual handling.

Manual handling injuries can affect everyone in all workplaces and injuries sustained are a major cause of occupational ill health in the UK. By employers’ engaging in regular training helps to raise awareness and minimise the risks.
